Start with an asset inventory
List domains, subdomains, applications, IP ranges and externally reachable services that belong to your organization. Record ownership and business purpose. An inventory is useful only when teams can distinguish authorized systems from unknown or retired ones.
Assess exposure in context
A reachable service is not automatically a vulnerability. Review configuration, access paths, certificate state and the business importance of the asset. Validate significant findings before escalating them.
Make it a repeatable process
New deployments, vendor changes and DNS updates alter the picture. Compare assessment snapshots, assign owners, document decisions and verify remediation. A small repeatable workflow is more valuable than a one-off list.
Put the guidance into practice
ASWEEP helps frame an authorized external assessment around asset visibility, exposure review and actionable reporting. Discuss your scope and goals before deciding which methods are appropriate.
